Pawnee Indian Creation Legend
   This tribe of Caddoan Indians of North America have a myth that at the time of the Deluge their ancestors took refuge in a cave and that after the period of trial had finished an old man who carried a pipe, fire, and a drum, together with his wife, who had maize and pumpkin seeds, were the first to return to the outer world. Their chief deity was Atius-Tirawa, and it was he who had ordered the destruction of the world by fire which was put out by the Deluge.
